Empowering the next generation of Agritechnicians and Agripreneurs

The Pampamilyang Paaralang Agrikultura Foundation, Inc. (PPAFI) is a non-stock, non-profit
organization in the Philippines dedicated to advancing agricultural rural education, and youth empowerment.

At its core, PPAFI serves as the driving force behind transformative training initiatives that prepare young

women and men for meaningful career in agriculture.

Central to its work is the Dual Agritech™ Program, designed to equip the youth
with practical skills and technical knowledge, shaping them into competent
agricultural technicians and emerging agripreneurs. Through this approach,
PPAFI bridges education and hands-on experience, making agriculture both viable
and appealing to the next generation.

PPAFI also champions modern and sustainable farming methods, introducing innovations and
other technologies that enhance productivity while promoting environmental
stewardship. By doing so, it helps reshape Philippine agriculture into a progressive and
forward-looking industry. However, PPAFI considers traditional farming methods that are proven to be still efficient

        and effective.

      • Meet the Founder

        — Maria Santos “PPAFI has been a cornerstone in my growth as a farmer. The training I received truly empowered me to improve my family's farm.” Transforming Lives Through Agricultural Education Since 1986 The Pampamilyang Paaralang Agrikultura Foundation, Inc. (PPAFI) is a Philippine-based nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing agricultural education and rural development through innovative, skills-based training programs. Established in 1986, PPAFI pioneered the “Family Farm School” model in the country, blending academic learning with practical, farm-based experience to empower young individuals in rural communities.

Mr. Fritz R. Gemperle - was a man driven by a quiet but powerful vision—to transform rural
communities in the Philippines through education rooted in agriculture, values, and family. A Swiss-Filipino development advocate and entrepreneur, he saw early on that poverty in the countryside was not simply a lack of resources, but a lack of opportunity, training, and support for young people growing up in
        farming families.

Inspired by successful rural education models in Europe, particularly those in Spain and France, Gemperle believed that education should not be confined to classrooms. Instead, it should be lived, practiced, and grounded in real life. This belief led him to establish Pampamilyang Paaralang Agrikultura Foundation,
Inc. in 1986, marking the beginning of a new approach to agricultural education in the country.

Through PPAFI, Gemperle founded the first Family Farm School in Dagatan,Lipa City, Batangas. There, students did not just learn theories—they applied them directly on their owned family farms and within their communities. His model combined technical agricultural training with character formation, discipline, and a deep respect for family and service. For him, farming was not merely a means of
survival; it was a dignified profession and a pathway to sustainable development.

Over time, his vision grew beyond a single school. He supported the expansion of Family Farm Schools, including institutions like the Balete Family Farm School, creating a network dedicated to empowering rural youth. His work helped shape a generation of young farmers and agripreneurs who were equipped
not only with skills, but with purpose and values.

Today, his legacy lives on through PPAFI and programs like DualAgritech™, which continue to carry forward his vision of transforming lives through practical education, strong values, and a commitment to community. Fritz Gemperle’s story is not just one of innovation—it is a story of long term dedication and service, deep compassion, and an enduring belief in the potential of every rural family member to thrive.
